Goldmother was born out of my interest in the act of caring as an invisible and de-valued form of labour. This I see both in terms of women's (parents') unpaid familial and domestic labour/care, particularly the mental load, and how this aligns with the enormous disparity in the value assigned to art by women artists. The way these two inequalities intersect is central to the performance.
