Career gap (Interrupted) 2025
Digital print on vinyl; Dimensions variable. See video here.
The work is installed on the institution doors, 'activated' by the audience walking through. It refers not only to the constant state of being interrupted when caring for children, but also to the career gap women face taking time out of paid work to raise children, which limits their earning potential, compounding poverty in old age due to lower pensions (aka the motherhood penalty). The text also hints at the 'thigh gap' and toxic expectations for women to 'bounce back' and lose weight after pregnancy and birth.
